🎧 NEW THIS YEAR: THE STUDENT HANDBOOK PODCASTS
Let’s be honest… No one really wants to read an 80-page handbook. And as much fun as it is talking about dress code, tardies, and lunch procedures, you don’t come to Open House hoping to hear a one-hour lecture on school policy.
So this year, we’re trying something new (and way more fun): We’ve created a podcast series that breaks down all the important stuff into short, engaging episodes. Each one runs between 7–20 minutes, and you can listen at your convenience—on the couch, in the car, or while folding laundry.
🔘To listen to the podcasts, visit our website at www.kpslonghorns.org.
From the homepage:
Hover over the "More" menu at the top.
Then hover over "Jr/Sr High School."
Next, click the arrow next to "Jr/Sr High School Handbook."
Select "Jr/Sr High Handbook Podcasts."
There, you’ll find links to seven short podcasts covering topics from the Jr/Sr Student-Parent Handbook and one podcast about the Extracurricular Activities Handbook.
Just click on a topic and hit play—it’s that easy!
As an alternative, you can access the podcasts using the QR Code in the attachment below.
📝 Reminder:
Parents will still acknowledge they’ve read the handbook as part of back-to-school paperwork. Listening to the podcasts counts! And it gives you a much clearer picture of our expectations, routines, and how we support your kids to have their best year ever. Additional policies such as State and Federal Programs, the Drug and Alcohol Policy, etc. are not covered on the podcasts but are available for reference at the end of the handbook.
We can't wait to welcome all of you—especially our newest Longhorns—at the Open House on August 14th. Bring your questions, your student, and your best first-day-of-school energy.
Don’t forget to get your forms completed by the 14th so your student can receive their chromebook at the Open House!
Let’s make it a great year!!
